Students Saint Annes Anglican International Primary and Junior High School became the center of attraction on Thursday, February 14, 2019 when they embarked on a clean-up exercise at the Kumasi Central Mosque.

At a glance, one could think they were practicing for the upcoming sixth match parade, but with brooms in their hands, it was otherwise.

About 200 school children arrived at the Kumasi Central Mosque as early 8:00am to begin what they described as work of God.

The school children swept through every corner of the decade old mosque till about 11:00am same day.

Their benevolent actions attracted passerby to the scene and some watch with amusement.

Administrator of the school, Mr. Francis Akwuah said the move was in line with the school’s objective of instilling religious tolerance to the kids through communal work.

“Today is valentines day, it is a day of love on the Christian calendar, as such we thought of celebrating it by showing love to our Muslim brothers” Mr Akwuah said in an interview.

Protocol officer of the Council of Zongo Chiefs and Chief Baribari of the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Muhammadu Nasiru Alhassan Barau expressed gratitude to the management of the school for undertaking such initiative.

He further called for more of such initiatives to foster tolerance and unity between Muslims and Christians in the Ashanti Region.
