Former Christian Council Secretary Opuni-Frimpong celebrates Chief Imam on 100th birthda
Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong has idolised the National Chief Imam and has described him as an icon of inter faith harmony and peace in Ghana.
In a message copied to ABC News Ghana, Rev. Opuni-Frimpong wished the Muslim cleric well while urging all to emulate his good deeds. The message read, “Happy Birthday to the National Chief Imam. He has remained an icon of inter faith harmony and peace for Ghana”.
The former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) further appreciated the works of the Chief Imam, describing him as a great example for the African Continent and the various Religious leaders in Ghana.
Ghana’s National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu on Sunday, 21 April 2019, joined the Christ the King Catholic Church in church service in Accra to mark his 100th birthday anniversary, in a ceremony attended by ABC News Ghana.
Although the visit to the church was generally well received, there were some members of the public who expressed discomfort over the chief Imam’s worship in a church.
It is on the back of this that Dr Opuni-Frimpong, who is currently a lecturer at the Department of Religious Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has called for other religious leaders to emulate the example set by the Chief Imam on religious tolerance
