Former Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa has stated that the ‘Free SHS’ policy initiated by the government of Ghana will be a game changer.
He says the programme can change the narrative in the country in the near future if everyone is given equal opportunity to benefit.

“Looking at the Free SHS initiative, I think that it could be a game changer in future because now wherever you attend SHS, whether in Bawku, Gambaga, Nzulenzu or wherever, there is now an opportunity for all of us to attend the university,” he affirmed.

In an interview with Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong on GTV’s ‘What is Next?’, Prof Adarkwa said the Free SHS policy should not be to the benefit of some people but to all citizens of the country.

He added that, education was one of the essential initiatives that could reduce the high rate of inequality in the country and on account of this finds it very imperative for the nation.
He further specified that educating people from deprived areas could make an impact on the society and the nation ensemble.

“If you educate one person from one small community, and the person graduates in pharmacy or medicine, you could see the impact that such a person could have on the community,” Prof Adarkwa noted.
