Rev Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong has expressed disappointment in the rate at which corruption has eaten deep into the cores of the Ghanaian society – According to him, unless government make the effort not to spare those involved in corrupt practices, the fight against corruption would yield no results -He said the continuous politicisation of issues of corruption on all sides of the political divide, has made the fight against corruption almost impossible The former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong has expressed disappointment in the rate at which corruption has eaten deep into the cores of the Ghanaian society. He doubts the government’s willingness to eliminate corruption as he holds a strong belief that successive governments have not shown enough commitment to root out the canker. Speaking in an interview with ABC News, he said the continuous politicisation of issues of corruption on all sides of the political divide, has made the fight against corruption almost impossible. This has always been the approach which makes me doubt if we are serious about fighting corruption,” he said. Describing the fight against corruption as a collective responsibility, he further indicated that its elimination would be unsuccessful if it is only targeted at political actors.
