The immediate-past General-Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Kwabena Opuni Frimpong has called on the Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to break silence on his alleged leaked tape.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo in a leaking tape making round on various media platforms was heard admitting to the importation of the ‘Azorka Boys’ to cause mayhem during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

In the recording believed to have been taken at a meeting ahead to address the party’s communicators, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo was heard calling for “relentless war” against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa and endorsed insults of Reverend Emmanuel Asante who is the Chairman of the Ghana Peace Council.

However, after 24 hours of circulation of the leaked tape, Mr Ofosu is yet to admit or deny the alleged audio even though those who attempted to defend him failed woefully.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Show, Reverend Opuni Frimpong stated the act of the chairman who is also an elder of the Church of Pentecost was uncalled for and has to respond immediately.

“Ofosu Ampofo must come out to tell us something and even apologize where necessary to restore calm. It is appalling and does not dignify him and his status.”

“We have all been quiet waiting to hear something from the man (Ofosu Ampofo) himself because the communications officer says it is false and concocted but Kwaku Boahene admitted it was the Chairman’s voice but to no avail,” he stated

Rev. Opuni Frimpong however urged politicians to be mindful of their utterances about men of God.

“Politicians must not see pastors and all religious leaders as their enemies because whatever we do or say is for the good of the country. I know Reverend Asante is a true man of God and will remain with him till he is called to eternity.”
